Where can I find information on low-cost or free mental health clinics?

You can start at your local health department. They can direct you to a facility. If you are having trouble that you feel you can't wait out, get to your emergency room. Also, if you are thinking of suicide, get to your E.R. immediately. There are some states, however, who are behind in making mental health care accessible. The net is another resource. 4 years ago 1 person rated this as good I was hoping for some more local information, but I plan to call the health department.

Studies seem to show that having spiritual belifes seems to preserve mental health. my question is?

- Chosen by Voters It's simple architectural knowledge. A building with a solid foundation can withstand the toughest of storms. A building with a flimsy foundation will crumble at the first sign of trouble. Source(s): me 8 months ago 40% 2 Votes

Is having sex at 11 years old good or bad for that girls mental and physical health?

- Chosen by Voters This is a very subjective question. To some it is unwanted and is very traumatizing. To others, they begin to equate it as the norm and become dangerously promiscuous. Others end up getting pregnant or getting STDs. Some realize it is about their body and no relationships and have body dysmorphic disorders. Others cherish their virginity and believe they are then ruined. It is unadvisable for women that young to have sex because they don't know how to protect themselves and they don't understand the consequences. But if it happened to you and you don't see anything wrong with it, then you shouldn't have much to worry about. 9 months ago 33% 43 Votes 1 person rated this as good

Does listening to people rattle on bullshit confuse you and cause mental health problems?

- Chosen by Voters I don't know about mental health problems but I do get impatient with it. That's probably more a sign of old age than anything else. It's all been done before, rehashed before, debated before… so I get impatient and tune out. As Solomon said, there's very little new under the sun. If I hear someone going on about something and they've obviously not thought about it but are parroting something they've heard through mainstream media or it's just something someone else said, then I get irritated. 4 years ago 100% 1 Vote

How are emergency room and general practice doctors qualified in prescribing drugs for mental health?

- Chosen by Voters They went to medical school, completed a residency and such, and are licensed as doctors. Legally, that's all that's required.Academically, all doctors study some amount of psychiatry along with many other areas of medicine. A GP would most commonly prescribe psychiatric medication on the recommendation of a psychologist (as in, the shrink says the patient is depressed, ADHD, whatever, and the MD decides which pills to give them), so he'd mainly just be concerned with the physiological effects of the medication. An ER doctor usually wouldn't prescribe psych meds except on an emergency basis (ex. a single dose of halidol for a dangerously psychotic patient). Mostly they'd refer to a psychiatrist, but any medical doctor is qualified to prescribe psychiatric meds. 5 years ago 57% 4 Votes 2 people rated this as good

How do you find out if you have a mental health problem?

Yes, you go to your GP who will ask you some questions, and then if they feel it is necessary they will refer you to a psychiatrist. However the whole process may take several months. If you feel you need help and support in the meantime, you can contact the mental health charity, 'Mind'http://www.mind.org.uk/Click on 'Mind in your area' to find your local branch. 3 years ago thanks for your answer – I do not have a mental health problem, but am very interested in the topic

What would I have to major in at college to be able to work inside of a mental health facility?

Psychology or social work would be good choices. However, keep in mind what type of money you want to make and what kind of job you want. If you're wanting to work as a tech, then an associate's or bachelor's degree would be enough. Some facilities don't even require that, some just say you have to be a high school graduate, while others prefer you have at least some college education. However, techs don't make a lot of money. If you're wanting to be a therapist, count on having to go to graduate school. You can get a PhD in psychology and be a therapist or get a master's in social work and be a therapist as well. The difference is that a PhD can do psychological testing and such, but often insurance companies don't like to pay for the cost of PhD services – they are more likely to cover more for an MSW doing therapy services. You could also go to medical school and specialize in psychiatry so you can be a psychiatrist. If you were to go to nursing school, you could become a psychiatric nurse.Hope this helps! Source(s): I got my bachelor's degree in psychology and I'm currently working as a tech on an adolescent psychiatric unit. I'm also going to school to get my MSW so I can be a therapist. 3 years ago 1 person rated this as good Thanks!

Can frequent rejection throughout your life affect your mental health?

It depends on the person. Some people would get rejected once , twice , thrice and that wouldn't hurt them a bit. And some tend to get hurt easily. I think it is related to how you evaluate yourself. If you really think you are a hot shot then you wouldn't care less if a bunch of em turned you down. But if rejection was a confirmation of your insecurities especially if the reasons or the signals indicate that rejection was based on the same areas you felt you were deficient at , then it might affect your mental health. Both ways why base your happiness oe sanity on others .. you do have a choice.. 2 years ago Sigh….makes perfect sense…If only I could figure out how.
