Definition of "wasn't there" in regards to mental health?

She probably meant that you weren't responding to stimuli normally, were especially vague or absent-minded when you did react, that you seemed withdrawn or preoccupied and generally weren't participating in social situations. You might not have been aware that you seemed this way, because after all, you were preoccupied. 3 years ago Yeah thanks

What does people think about the current mental health guidelines for sufferers of anorexia?

I agree, but the BMI is actually a greatly flawed system, and can only be used for people who are of a sedentary lifestyle.Mr. Olympia who is around 295 pounds at 5'10" is considered OBESE via his BMI, but he has about 100 more pounds of muscle than most people in the world, and his fat percentage is around 5-6%.Most people have fat percentages around 20-35%, and many of them have such low muscle masses that they aren't considered obese or anything under the BMI, showing the two ranges of error of the BMI chart.Hope this helps. 5 years ago 1 person rated this as good only answer

Is mental health care free in England? Do you need parents consent?

- Chosen by Voters mental health care is free in england but usually you need your parents consent under the age of 16 to undergo treatment. your best bet is to go see your gp and tell him how you are feeling and they will recommend anything from there. you may find that by not telling your parents you are actually making your symptoms worse, as this causes you to obsess about the ocd even more.ocd affects more people than you would think, and for many people it is just a phase and eventually you will stop. for some people it can become more serious and it is possible to battle it throughout life. with this in mind, i suggest you talk to your gp and tell them how much it is bothering you, and take it from there. 1 year ago 100% 1 Vote 1 person rated this as good

What does a mental health case manager do? ?

- Chosen by Voters Firstly inquire about a specific job description in writing if possible, if not, ask them to describe a day as CM. Case management involves linkage to resources, coordination with resources/referrals, ensuring adequate use of services in the community, lowering barriers to services that are needed (i.e. financial, transportation, language barrier, educational barrier). CM in a hospital setting may and most likely require admission/intake process as well as treatment and discharge planning. The mental health field is now leaning towards the rehabilitation and recovery model, which includes services such as mental health rehabiilitation. This is where you help a client/patient learn skills to reintegrate them into the community to function at their best. Hope it helps! How can I obtain free mental health care?

Contact your county/local mental health agency, to see what help they can provide. Sliding scale based psychological counselling is often available from Catholic counselling, the Methodist church, or Unitarian Universalists, and sometimes the United Way. You don't have to be a member. Google: "clinics; mhmr; (your location)" & "free clinics; (your location)" Also contact your local department of human services and apply for state health care. See http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/health…Other advice that I am aware of is to contact your local social services department and apply for state medicaid, then find a doctor who accepts it. Ask at those places where you can contact a local social worker, because they often have suggestions, and contacts. Phone: (202) 408 8600 See http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.g… For Lithium Carbonate, and other mental health medication, at $4/month's supply, or $10/90 days (more in CA., and 8 other US states: also try calling Target pharmaceuticals). View www.pparx.org/ and call 1-888-4PP-ANOW (1-888-477-2669), if financially disadvantaged in the USA, and seeking a bipolar medication subsidy. Don't be too picky about the type of job; employers prefer someone already employed (or volunteering).Keep in mind that the economy is in the process of turning around, at present, and employers will soon be hiring again in larger numbers, but at present, there can be many applications for any given vacancy. Can someone tell me of any mental health clinics or phyiciatic wards i can go to?

Go to your local hospital's Emergency Room and they can have you fill out a paper to admit yourself for a psychiatric evaluation. You could also call your local Crisis Hot-line. The number should be listed in the phone book. 1 year ago 3 people rated this as good thanks i needed opitions

How do i compare and contrast two approaches to the study of mental health and illness in psychology ?

- Chosen by Voters Biological vs. Environmental. This would allow you to take a look at the Nature vs. Nurture Debate and to tell of things that are similar and different with each approach and why the debate exists. 2 months ago 100% 1 Vote

In the UK could you get a Shotgun/Firearms Licence if you had a documented history of mental health issues?

- Chosen by Voters Yes. There are no medical restrictions currently in force against the issue of a shotgun licence, UNLESS you have EVER been detained by the police under the Mental Health Act.The problem is, that GP's and Police Etc have no interaction or communication system surrounding the issue of Shotgun Licences. The Police will record and hence have a documented history upon which to deny the issue of a licence. But if your history is documented only within the medical profession and you lie on your application (Presumably because you're nuts) then there is no reason to suppose that your licence will not be granted! I lost my title of Top Contributor in mental health?

The official criteria,"A "Top Contributor" is a member of the Yahoo Answers community who has shown that they are knowledgeable in a certain category. Each user can be a top contributor in a maximum three categories. You earn it or lose it depending on your recent participation in a certain section. The more positively you contribute, the more chance there is that you will get a TC badge. Just like featured users or category leaders, it's another way to give credit to community members."It is rumoured that you need at least a 10 percent best answers in your chosen category to get a TC badge although the actual percentage and the number of answers is Yahoo's secret. If you have contributed enough to meet Yahoo's criteria, the orange badge will appear below your avatar on Monday morning. It is easier to keep the badge than it is to get it in the first place. Just keep answering questions in your category and get a few best answers. You will recover the TC badge. It can disappear just as easily if you don't keep answering questions in your chosen category. Source(s): http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/answers… 3 years ago 3 people rated this as good Oh I see. Current psych major… what degree paths should i take so i could work in the mental health area and help ppl?

- Chosen by Voters Perhaps you meant psychiatric ward which is not an insane ward. It is a medically supervised area where they can observe how you are reacting to the meds they are working to establish within your system to bring you relief. Please do not feel offended by this: You probably just misspoke.Perhaps first you might best take an "interest inventory" test and find out if this is indeed where your area of interest is the greatest. Helping others is one way to help yourself and heal yourself. I encourage your altruistic outlook re helping others. Perhaps you might want to consider getting your education first and consulting school counsellors who can best guide you.And read all you can. I like to recommend an older book "Compassion and Self Hate" by an eminent psychiatrist, now passed, I am also bipolar an had to be hospitalized for a period of time. Before we can think of helping others, we must first learn about ourselves and how to heal ourselves. Have you ever heard of the saying: "We teach that which we need to learn"?Best of wishes to you.
