- Chosen by Voters I like the idea of your group. I'm in one for people that hear voices. It doesn't matter how we became to hear them as long as we do or did. There also is a support group for family and friends of voices hearers. I thought you might want to start one also for the family or friends of these people also. In my group were aloud to join both. Mine are on line so it's a lot different then meeting in person. I wish we had that in my area.I was thinking say something about no matter your "Label" support group. But of course it would have to say something about mental health problems and.Parents of any mental label support group. Something like that. Good luck with your group.Take care and never give up!Cella Source(s): life 3 years ago 100% 1 Vote

Contact the office you went to and inquire about having you records released to you. You must be specific in requesting the full record. If you are looking for a diagnosis or something specific ask for it. Source(s): experience 3 years ago Thanks!

- Chosen by Voters Yes, I have had lot of experience with this type of problem. Contact the Senoir Citizen Agency in your town and they will help you with all of your problems. There are hundreds of programs that are free and ones that will help your uncle. Each city normally has this agency listed in the yellow pages. There is also a program called SAIL in most states that help elder people with mental and physical problems. 4 years ago 100% 1 Vote

- Chosen by Voters At first, the mentally ill, developmentally delayed, and intellectually challenged were hidden away from society, as they had been for 100s of years in English culture. There were mental hospitals that generally weren't effective in treating mental illness. If a mental illness came to an end, such as periodic depression, a person might be released to family. Medical techniques included chemical and physical restraints in the worst hospitals, and in the 70s, medication treatment. Medications that were popular were Seconal, Barbiturates, heavy tranquilizers/antipsychotics such as Thorazine. Lithium was being used in England and the US, and probably in Melbourne. These drugs helped people to live more normal lives, and to live in their communities or with family. The large, old mental hospitals have either been razed or turned into offices. If people are living together, it's in houses with 6-8 residents and a landlord or landlord's resident manager. Otherwise, the mentally ill are free to live and work wherever they can.Stigma has always been and is still a big problem in Australia and around the world. People often fear the mentally ill, or dislike having them as neighbours. Most of us are quiet and don't like to draw attention to ourselves. Mentally ill persons with a dual diagnosis of alcoholism or drug abuse make the rest of us look bad, as they can often be rowdy and violate the law. Since there are now dozens of medications to choose from for affective, schizophrenic, and anxiety disorders, people are more motivated to seek treatment than in the past. With the right doctor and treatment, a normal or fairly normal life is possible. Source(s): Bipolar 1, 35+ years 9 months ago 100% 2 Votes

Hey! i found out, the psychological evaluation is not a thing for your mental health. they dont ask questions like that! this is what they do,Best AnswerIn my department, the test we took was taken from the military for top secret clearances. It was 600 questions, of which there was about 30 different scenarios but they were phrased differently. What they are looking for is your ability to judge a circumstance and be consistent in your evaluations. Some questions deal with your basic personality and self impressions. You will see questions like "My parents trusted my judgment as a teenager". True or false. "My parents approved of my friends". True or false. Multiple choice,,,,,,What would you like to attend? A baseball game, a football game, a tennis match or a boxing match? Can you see what is being looked at in these. If your own parents dont trust your judgment, do you think a prospective employer would view this as a positive. For the sports event, if you chose the boxing match, you are exhibiting a tendency to liking/watching violence. Not necessarily something any department would want one of their officers to have when your job depends on being level headed and breaking up violence, not egging it on because you enjoy it. Plain common sense prevails in this test. Go with your first choice, gut instinct. Dont overread the question. It isnt a trick. Good luck to you and I hope this has helped. Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) on Thursday introduced legislation (S 1173, HR 1964) that would for the first time codify abortion rights in the U.S., AFP/Yahoo! News reports. The legislation, which came one day after the Supreme Court upheld the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (S three), “would bar government, at any level, from interfering with a woman’s fundamental right to choose to bear a child or to terminate a pregnancy,” Nadler in a statement said (AFP/Yahoo! News, 4/19). “We can no longer rely on the Supreme Court to protect a woman’s constitutional right to choose,” Nadler stated, adding that it is “time for Congress to stand up towards the challenge” (Nadler release, 4/19). Boxer and Nadler both said it could be difficult to gain Democrats’ support for the measure. Boxer, however, added that in a 2003 vote on the issue 52 senators, including eight Republicans, affirmed the principles of Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that effectively barred state abortion bans (Schor, The Hill, 4/20).
