Mental Health Experts in the Church of Christ?

Anyone who allows a Mental Health Expert to turn them away from Christ, was never a true Christian to begin with. God bless. 2 years ago 2 people rated this as good We can seek medical attention if needed but at the same time not forgetting that God can still heal today just as we so often read about in the Bible.

What happens to young people with mental health in prison?

Ideally young offenders institutes should encourage rehabilitation. Generally, regardless of weather or not the young person has mental health issues they may provide educational and/or life skills training. The young person may also have access to voluntary work or be required to help with housekeeping in the unit eg cleaning, decorating or DIY. There's also likely to be recreational and social activities. It would be a highly structured environment.Regarding mental health, there will be access to mental health professionals and specalist support like psychiatrists, nurses etc. Support should would be given to prepare the person for leaving ie making sure appropriate long term support is in place, there is adequate housing etc. If mental-ill health has been a contributing factor to criminal activity then this should certainly be addressed properly.Im not sure that a YOI is the right place for a person as ill as you describe. A secure, forensic mental health ward may be more suitable but they can also be very damaging in their own way and can do harm as well as good. This person should speak to their current professional involved in their care and legal team to help ensure that they get the outcome that is best for them. 1 year ago Thank you

Whats everything that community mental health centers provide to patients and families?

- Chosen by Voters It depends on where you live. For public community mental health centers, the general standby is a psychiatrist to put people on meds. They have too many patients, and are more often concerned with sticking people on meds that might possibly eventually control the symptoms, rather than on fixing any underlying problems. Some places have a couple of therapists.Very few public community mental health centers offer group therapy.Within any community, though, there is almost always an option or three other than the public system. If there is a university nearby, they may have a doctoral program in which student offer free or low-cost therapy/meds to the public. Don't let the fact that they are students scare you off- these are often the best psychiatrists out there because they are more open to learning, are better educated than their older peers, and aren't as jaded, so they are more likely to offer true help. There are also religious organizations that sometimes offer sliding-scale services (psychiatrist, individual/couples counseling, group therapy, etc.). While they are located at a religious place (Jewish Family and Children Services is an example), the services offered aren't religious in nature, and anyone of any (or no) religion can take advantage of them (there may be exceptions, but that is the general way of these places). 3 years ago 100% 1 Vote

Mental Health; Are you a mentally healthy person? Why do you feel that way? What is a mentally healthy person?

I did psychiatric intake work for more than two decades. And so, yes, I have experience in the psych wards of psychiatric hospitals. I feel that I am a mentally healthy person. Mental health is a lifetime journey just as physical health is. Someone who eats right, gets exercise and works with his doctor to maintain his optimum health can enjoy good physical health. I would say that good mental health is obtained by having good life skills for coping and overcoming life's problems. It also has to do with protecting yourself and surrounding yourself with positive, moral, ethical, caring human beings who are like you. It is avoiding people who are manipulating, attention seeking, negative and corrupt. It would include the life skill of having excellent self esteem and an attitude of social justice and social responsibility. And above all, it would include the ability to be flexible, cognitive, highly self reliant, the ability to resolve and to be pliant and bounce back. It would include the skill of being nonjudgmental and knowing where your social boundaries are. And it would include the ability to interact with and move well within society. And a mentally healthy person would know when he needed the advice and care of a mental health professional and would not avoid this. HE would want to maintain his good mental health above all. 1 year ago This is a good analysis

What are my options for income? I have mental health issues that prevent me from keeping a job in public.?

You could try to get on SSI. It's what I'm doing. I have schizoaffective disorder and I can't keep a job either. I'm using Myler disablity to help me with my claim. I don't really have to do much at all. They've replead my denied decision and is working on getting me approved. You don't have to pay them anything unless your win and get disability. And that's 25% of your backpay which is what they would have been paying you if you got accepted right away. So say it's been like 6 months before your initial application and you would have gotten $500 a month. That's $3,000 that you would get and you would pay the people 25% of that leaving you with $2,225 and then monthly checks from then out. Here's their website if you want to look!http://ssdisabilityapplication.com/ Source(s): Mee. Female births are decreasing in India as sales of ultrasound machines are increasing, causing some government officials and advocates to link wider availability of ultrasounds to sex-selective abortions, the Wall Street Journal reports (Wonacott, Wall Street Journal, 4/18). The country in 1994 approved the Prenatal Determination Act, which bans the use of technologies, such as ultrasounds and sonograms, for the purpose of sex-selective abortion. The law also bans advertisements for prenatal sex determination, along with the practice of preconception sex selection law (Kaiser Daily Women’s Well being Policy Report, 3/1). In accordance with the Journal, all clinics that have an ultrasound machine are required to register together with the government and offer an affidavit saying it will not perform sex-selective abortions. General Electric, the leading seller of ultrasound machines inside the country, has educated its sales force about the issue, requires its customers to sign a GE affidavit saying they will not use the machines for sex selection and conducts periodic audits, company executives stated. V. Raja, CEO of GE Healthcare South Asia, stated the company “stress[es] emphatically that the machines aren’t to be used for sex determination,” adding that the increased availability of ultrasound scans “is not the root cause of female feticide in India.” Some advocates have stated GE isn’t performing adequate to prevent its machines from being utilized for sex-selective abortions, in accordance with the Journal. Puneet Bedi, a New Delhi-based obstetrician, stated GE and other companies market the machines as an crucial tool for prenatal care even though ultrasounds are typically unnecessary for pregnant women in low-risk groups. According to the Journal, GE cannot tell if physicians sell their machines to unregistered physicians and if different Indian states interpret registration rules differently.

Prevalence of Sex-Selective Abortion Still High
“Ultrasound is the main reason why the sex ration is coming down,” Kalpana Bhavre, head of ladies and child welfare for the Datia district government, stated, adding that couples typically view having a daughter as incurring debt for parents because of marital dowry payments (Wall Street Journal, 4/18). Based on a UNICEF report released in December 2006, about 7,000 fewer girls than expected are born day-to-day in India, and about 10 million fewer girls than expected were born in the past 20 years. Probably the most current Indian census figures found that the gender ratio decreased from 947 girls per 1,000 boys to 927 girls per 1,000 boys from 1991 to 2001 (Kaiser Day-to-day Women’s Well being Policy Report, 3/1). Raja said, “What’s really needed is actually a change in mindsets. A good deal of education has to happen, along with the government has to do it.” The Indian Ministry of Well being and Family Welfare is investigating 422 instances against physicians who are accused of employing ultrasounds for sex selection. The ministry in a statement stated that “legislation is not adequate to deal with this problem,” adding that the situation will “change only when the daughters are not treated as a burden along with the sons as assets” (Wall Street Journal, 4/18).

Good place to work in Austin Texas as a mental health nurse?

- Chosen by Voters I am from Austin. My suggestion is to work at the Austin State Hospital. They are however underfunded like many state institutions. Travis County Sheriff's Department also has a need for people who are good with mental health both in the jail and in other areas. I imagine if you know where to look you can find contractors or in home style stuff. Feel free to message me or AIM me at abrum45 if you want some more info. Like I said I live in Austin, I'd love to help you out. I also have friends who work in both the places I mentioned. Links below. Good luck.
