Is all the schooling worth being a Mental Health Counselor?
Posted in mental health problems on 02/04/2012 03:31 pm by adminI am a professional recruiter and I watch so many degreed professionals who are disenchanted with their chosen profession after some time out in the real world.I would suggest that you work in the field with your 4yr degree for a short while to solidify your desire to continue. This will allow you to pay down any student loans that you may have. Then you can then decide if your return on investmet is worth the risk, but helping children at any level is still helping children. What is your motivation, Position, Money, Self Worth, of Satisfaction. Source(s): Sr IT Recruiter with 30 years in IT 3 years ago 1 person rated this as good Good words of advice!

Where can I get help for mental health in Warren Michigan?
Posted in mental health problems on 02/04/2012 01:38 pm by admin- Chosen by Voters You can try www.counselor.org. This is the American Counseling Association, which is a sub-branch of the APA (American Psychological Association). Click on RESOURCES, and then COUNSELOR DIRECTORY, and type in your zipcode. I think that many counselors know or work in association with Pschiatrists who can prescribe medication. Why do many Doctors think pills are the only way to fix mental health issues?
Posted in mental health problems on 02/03/2012 10:13 pm by admin- Chosen by Voters In case you havent noticed, that is all that doctors have to work with ………pills. Big pharma teaches them from day one,and they are entirely dependant on them……….most mental health pills are placebos or supressants……..they have no proof of anything in mental health or the brain…….all theory Source(s): x 2 years ago 100% 1 Vote

Is re-living the crucifixion every week good or bad mental health?
Posted in mental health problems on 02/03/2012 08:36 pm by admin- Chosen by Voters Hi Rodney, As a PTSD specialist, I use a technique called Traumatic Incident Reduction which involves the sufferer repeatedly reviewing the incident which has been identified as troublesome. In so doing, PTSD sufferers come to terms with the trauma & actually become stronger & more able to cope as a result. TIR has over 80% success rate. Even those improperly trained (i.e. they've just read the book & put it into practice) claim in excess of 70% success using this method. So in principle I'd say that revisiting is a good thing. However, you've mentioned "the congregation" so I guess you're whingeing about church services. In church services they don't re-visit the crucifixion, they re-visit the resurrection. This is why Christians celebrate on Sundays & not Fridays. OK, there is often mention of Jesus death, but psychologically speaking it is a resolved issue on which congregations already have closure, therefore in theory affirmation of that closure by celebrating the resurrection should be a strengthening exercise. However, I do agree with you that some absurdities are preached in some churches as if they were truths. However, to know what is genuinely absurd & genuinely true you need to have a proper understanding for yourself. In both psychology and religion, many amateurs assert complete rubbish they believe to be true and reject truth as complete rubbish. You have to have studied & gone through some years of training & experience to know the difference. One useful starter here. The more emphatically people make their voices heard, the less likely it is that they have any understanding of the issues they insist people follow their views upon. The choice is yours as to whether or not you choose to check out what I've just told you.
