Thousands flock to Tianjin Beer Festival in efforts to cool off
During this hot summer, Tianjin’s Olympic Center is bustling with noise and excitement every evening. People are flocking to the 10th Tianjin International Beer Festival with the opening day alone attracting nearly 40,000 people, who gulped down 150,000 bottles of beer.
Tianjin’s beer festival kicks off amidst colorful fireworks. Tens of thousands of visitors are drinking to their hearts’ content, igniting a summer of passion.
Since 2001, the annual Tianjin beer festival has become a great option for local residents to get together every summer. This year marks its 10th anniversary. A total of 27 brands from 18 brewers are participating in the event, a 30 percent increase over last year.

Zhao Jian, Shop Manager, Bavarian Beer Keller, said, “We’ve brought three beer brands, along with authentic German cuisines such as sausages and steaks. Our sales revenue is around 200-300 thousand yuan every day.”
Wang Xiaoying, Marketing manager, Shandong Chunxue Food Co. LTD, said, “We’re from Shandong and used to participate in the Qingdao beer festival. We have heard about the beer festival in Tianjin, which we think it is great for ordinary people. We expect good sales in these ten days, hopefully more than 100,000 yuan.”
To add more excitement, all participants have come up with various sport-related activities, such as synchronized football and cheerleader dancing, bringing a carnival-like atmosphere.
Not only beer producers are busy, so are the 40-plus food vendors. This “food plus beer” combination has become one of the highlight of this year’s event. The festival will last ten days.
